Hey Y’all…..

Yup….    that’s  exactly what she said when we sat down to meet her on Sunday.  And the wait to see her was not long at all. We chatted in line with the group in front of us and we thanked our lucky stars that we were able to be included in the last of the group to see her. The organizer turned away a large number of people who tried to get in line behind us!

Paula Deen was promoting her Savannah inspired furniture line at Universal Furniture showroom during the International Home Furnishings Market in High Point last week. We drove out to the showroom as soon as we landed in Greensboro and got our rental car.  I had spoken to  a few friends who wanted  to meet her last Friday- they said the line was just too long. Hah! Long is when you spend four hours waiting to see the Ree Drummond AKA The Pioneer Woman at one of her book signings. My blogging friend La and I did just that last month in Columbus when we wanted to have our books signed.  BTW-it was so worth it!

Okay, back to Paula……   We didn’t have long to wait- maybe 45 minutes or so. We watched her as she sat on a sofa in the Universal showroom where she waited to chat with all  us furniture dealers and decorators- she was so gracious and sweet to everyone who went through the line.  When it was our turn to sit down with her, Mr. Sullivan told her that she must be tired and ready for a break- it was lunchtime, after all….      She turned to him with  those lit up sapphire blue eyes, and she smiled.  “ I aaaaam,” she said  in that slow, long drawn out southern drawl that we northerners find so captivating, “but ya know, it’s aaaaall gooood.”  And then she laughed and signed our books.   Mr. Sullivan told me later that he believes she is as genuine as the persona she exhibits on television.  All during the market we kept saying, it’s aaaall goood….

We have pictures coming from the vendor and I have one taken on the husband’s phone because guess who left her camera sitting on the kitchen countertop at home?! So until I get it and all the other shots I took on the Blackberry downloaded onto my computer, you’ll just have to be content seeing the picture above and the one below.

Here she is on the cover of her book, Paula Deen’s Savannah Style.   I swear this woman is one of the most photogenic people I’ve ever seen. She would turn to the camera, smile, and  just look so poised and lovely!   I have a little give-away coming up. Can you guess what it might be?  Stay tuned…….

I’ll be back when I figure out how to work the husband’s Blackberry and can download those pictures.  Market was a blast! My feet were so swollen after four days of walking, even while wearing those comfy flats I took. I may have burned some calories going up and down steps and traipsing from building to building,  but I quickly replaced them nibbling on all that yummy food in the showrooms. Can you say oink oink?!

Be back soon to visit everyone…….  I need a little recovery time!  Can you believe I slept for 10 hours last night?

Sounds like you had a blast. Glad you didn't have to wait hours to see Paula. I just love that Paula looks so good in her gray hair. I would just go ahead and let mine go gray if it looked that good!

Hi Sue, How fun! We ate at Paula's restaurant in Savannah last year and I was hoping she would be there. No sign of her but the food was good. Is she as pretty in person?

I would love to meet, Paula. She is so genuine and sweet {not to mention beautiful!}. When we were on a vacation in Savannah, I was moseying around a bookstore and found out she was going to be there later to sign one of her cookbooks. We had plans for the day so I couldn't stay. I am glad you got to chat with Paula. We ate at her brother's Bubba's restaurant and he sat down at the table with us for a long time. If you talked with me in person I am very Southern in my speech too! hugs♥olive

Furniture show AND Paula, what a great way to spend a few days. I've seen a couple of pieces from her line and I like it. She does seem like a genuine person...what you see is what you get.
