Simple Easter Breakfast Tablescape

This is my first time participating in Susan’s  84th Tablescape Thursday. I’ve set a really simple table by using a lace tablecloth that I found at a yard sale last fall. To add a little color, woven straw placemats in spring green were used for each of the place settings. White dinner plates and floral luncheon plates and bowls were placed on top of them.  Nothing fancy, by any means~ just pretty, pastel, spring colors that let us know that a new season is upon us.  

 

 

 

The centerpiece of the table is a large cloche covering a moss covered basket filled with speckled wooden eggs. A garland of faux dogwood blossoms encircles the bottom of the dome.

 

 

 

 

Each luncheon plate and bowl has a different bouquet of flowers embellishing it.

 

 

 

I used two different colored napkins and wrapped them with faux tea roses and ivy.  I alternated pink and green egg cups to the right of the napkins and  vintage green juice glasses to the left.

 

Who wouldn’t want to eat a soft cooked egg from this sweet little eggcup?

 

 

A small iron stand holds salt and pepper shakers, as well as a sugar bowl.

 

 

This little bunny is holding a watering can and is ready to get her garden growing.

 

 

And this rabbit looks as if he is ready for a snack.

I’m looking forward to eating a nice breakfast casserole and some fresh fruit,  as well as enjoying some pomegranate juice and a hot cup of coffee on Easter morning. I might even add a chocolate egg or some jelly beans as my dessert!  Do you get dessert with breakfast?!

Tole and More…

 

It’s time, once again, to visit Rhoda @ Southern Hospitality for Today’s Thrifty Treasures. Stop by to see what she and all of her party participants are showing as their thrifty finds.

Although I didn’t get out to visit any sales this week, I’ve been wanting to show the tole tray that I found at an estate sale back before the holidays.  It measures about 9x21 inches, is in pretty good condition, and I only paid $22 for it. I’d like to start collecting them, and I’ll definitely be on the look-out for more once the season gets into full swing.

While out at the drug store picking up a prescription, I found this little guy and couldn’t resist bringing him home with me.

Quack, Quack, Quack……..      Couldn’t you just see him floating in a bathtub, head bobbing up and down?

But wait…………..

He’s a hollow piece of chocolate candy!!!!  At $.99  I think he was a darn good bargain and he’ll make a great addition to an Easter vignette.

And speaking of vignettes, I added this paper mache’ bunny rabbit to my dining room table decor.

I’m always thinking ahead to the holidays when I’m shopping summer garage sales. I picked this up at a sale in my neighborhood for a quarter. Can you say Bargain?!

While these eggs and bunnies may look like chocolate, they definitely are not edible.  There is NO WAY I would dare set out the real thing. I’d be nibbling every time I walked by!

Leap Frog Bunnies

 

Although there is a light dusting of snow on the ground this morning and the temperatures are in the 20’s, I wanted to show you what brightened up my day as I came down the stairs.

 

This pretty spring bouquet was given to me by a thoughtful neighbor who thought we would enjoy it while Mr. S is recuperating. He likes fresh flowers and thought the hydrangeas in this arrangement were particularly pretty.

Why, it’s those little bunnies on a stick that were so popular in blogland last spring!

 

 

I’m hoping that these flowers will stay fresh until Mr. S gets home from the hospital, but I’m glad that he was able to see them before he went in. We are still waiting to hear what his doctors are planning as a course of action to prevent the problem he encountered after his surgery last week. Three operations within the course of 10 weeks is not something he had anticipated. He had been feeling so well and was enjoying walks through the neighborhood on his crutches. Please continue to keep us in your thoughts.

~Update on the hub’s health…..

Wanted to let you know that Mr. S had to go back into the hospital on Tuesday for emergency surgery on his leg. The doctors thought he had compartmental syndrome, which could have caused him to lose his leg. They removed a massive hematoma and he is out of intensive care now and we are just waiting to hear test results.

I will be away from blogging for a while longer now. Sheesh, and just when I thought we were turning the corner and he was doing so well with his recovery from the initial surgery back in January.  Take care, all.   xo Sue

A-thriftin’ I have been and a give-away reminder….

 

Thought I’d show you some more of the goodies I found while out on a couple of my thrifting excursions last week.  Along with some vintage items, I found a few more Easter decorations, including this Fitz and Floyd bunny plate that I’m displaying on the checkerboard table in the kitchen.

He’s so sweet looking, with that garland of flowers around his neck. I don’t think the seller knew what she was getting rid of. I snatched him up for the paltry sum of $2.00.

 

Glitter everywhere with this sparkly little box showcasing a little church and steeple, as well as a bottlebrush tree decorated with Easter eggs.

 

 

I love this “olden-looking” girl bunny sitting in her wire high chair.  She reminded me of a bunny rabbit I used to have many moons ago, but got rid of  when I decided that “country” was no longer my style.  I am still kicking myself for taking multiple carloads to Goodwill after my last garage sale!  What WAS I thinking?  

 

Bunny girl cost me $3.00 and the wired high chair was a mere dollar.

 

 

Now, I don’t have any idea what I am going to do with these two little metal molds. They just intrigued me and I had to have them!  Does anyone have a clue as to what they may have been used for?

 

This little nudie baby is kinda scary, really! Check out those peepers and the little curly Q in his hair. I think he’s saying, “Please pick me up.”  Either that or, “BOO!”

I’m not sure why this young boy has his hand down his pants.   *grin*

Maybe he is just reaching into a pocket in  his little bloomers.

 

 

 

Once I shine up this child’s silver cup, I think I’ll fill it with some moss and a couple of little colored Easter eggs.
