I used the vintage bulb tray that I bought this summer to create a natural and rustic look for this cocktail table vignette. I incorporated three mini chartreuse trees to mimic traditional Christmas trees and added in some giant sugar pinecones for more texture.
A little bling never hurts; so in keeping with the silver theme I’ve used in this room, I incorporated more of the silver magnolia leaves that I used in the fireplace mantel display. I added a glittery snowflake and a large silver bell in this corner of the bulb tray.
I like the way the rough texture of the sugar pinecones contrasts with the feathery softness of the chartreuse trees.
Three large glass candle holders of different heights take up the rest of space on the glass tabletop. My intention is to fill them with some more glitzy items. I used unscented battery operated candles in them because I always forget to blow out the real ones. I know I’ll inevitably forget to turn off the switch on the bottom of these guys, so no doubt I’ll be replacing the batteries in them quite often. I looked for the remote controlled ones, but couldn’t find them. But the more I thought about it, I’d probably never be able to remember where I put the remote- just like I can never find the ones for the television.
The warm glow of the “candles” peeking through the trees.
~~~~~
I’ll be working on more tabletops tomorrow, so I’ll slowly have more posts up soon. We’re off to the movies tonight to see “Burlesque,” with Cher and Christina Aguilera. Oh, and can’t forget the handsome Eric Dane, of Gray’s Anatomy fame. Can’t for the life of me think of his nickname on that show. Who can help me out?
Just beautiful Sue! And a little bling is always a good thing:@)
PS-I love Cher, hope the movie's great!
Beautiful, Sue. I love the whole thing. I need to break out my Christmas stuff and get a move on.
Real mini trees, giant pine cones and bling...love it all Sue. ♥O
This is so pretty, Sue! I'm so behind in my Christmas decorating! I'll just look at yours and be inspired! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Oh Sue, it is so beautiful. It is rustic, but elegant as well. Love it! La
Love the mixture of rustic and bling! Can't wait to see the next one
Very pretty. I put little trees in my antique wagon. Like those candles. I got some bad burns two years ago from blowing out a candle. The wax blew up. Even burndt my eye......not good. So battery operated ones are a good idea.
I love the natural there Sue... and your mantle looks so classy. ;)
I love those big bells mixed with the pinecones. Very pretty and it goes so well with your bulb tray. That bulb tray may end up being the find of the year.
This is beautiful!!!!!! Love the bling mixed in with the natural elements.
I thought I was finished decorating this year (really cut back a lot), until I started seeing everyone's beautiful decorations/creations out in blogland. Now I think I need to do more.
This is beautiful, Sue! I love all of it and especially the trees. I have thought about picking up the small trees at Lowe's. May do that yet.:-)
Oh Sue! This is all so GORGEOUS! I love those trees!! Are they real?? LOVE them! And those pinecones!! Oh my gosh, they are huge! The whole vignette is just stunning!!
Lou Cinda :)
I love the combination of rustic and glitzy. The trees are darling...I see I'm not the only one asking if they are live plants! What a creative concept...bravo!
I've seen battery candles that just had a push button on the bottom, so you could just push on them from the top to turn on an off. They were tealights - but maybe you could find them bigger.
Hi Sue! This is such a gorgeous centerpiece! I absolutely love the mini trees and just how the contrast of the shine from the silver plays off of the natural tones in the wood. Beautiful!
Vanessa
I didn't even know there WERE remote controlled ones! Those trees are so precious!
Belated Happy Birthday to you! Yes, the header is the decorations for this year.
I first had last years header up till I got pics of this year. The big difference is the decor on the top of the entertaintment ctr. and we got drapes this year for the windows. Thanks for stopping by.
Sue, this is so pretty. Love the little "Christmas trees", and the added bling is such a great contrast to the pine cones. That bulb box is a perfect container. I also love your candle holders. My husband has so many alergies that I can't use any scented candles, so I'm loving the faux candles. laurie
For some reason I always smile when someone says, "I just take a basket and fill it with,,," Because usually when I read this the "just filling" takes a turn for beauty. As did your grouping on the entertainment center. I've so enjoyed my journey through your decorations.
This bulb tray full of tress & pinecones is just PERFECT!!
I haven't read all the comments above but I bought battery operated candles that have an 8 hr. timer mechanism. I think they were around $15 for 3 large ones. Very nice!
Oh & HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!
