Quick Update on Mr. S

I’m at the hospital with Mr Sullivan right now and while he is snoozing, I thought I’d give you a quick recap of what has been happening with him.  On Thursday morning he had fluid drawn from his swollen knee and underwent painful  CT and an MRI scans. Once they were read, it was determined that he had to have surgery in his leg to remove the infection.  After a 90 minute surgery, the infection and a one of his quadricep (thigh)muscles was removed.  He came out of the surgery just fine, although he is enduring a lot of pain in his leg. Once the doctors are sure that all the infection is cleared up, he can start on his blood thinners again to help clear the blood clots in his calf.  He is still on insulin treatment to bring down his blood sugar level.

I know that a  lot of positive thoughts and prayers from family,  friends, and the blogging community came our way for his procedure.  It is going to be a long haul on the road  to recovery. He will need to recover from the surgery, start diabetic  and blood clot treatment, adjust to an entirely different lifestyle, and deal with physical therapy.  But he has big plans to dance at our godchild/niece’s wedding this summer. I told her that he may just be swaying, instead!  If you could continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers, it would be very much appreciated. I’ll keep you posted when I can.

Thanks to all of you so very much!

Sue

Oh Sue sweetie...
I will sontinue to hold you both up in prayer. You are on my list sweetie. Mr.S will dance at that wedding come Summer time. He is going to be a whole new man. Recovering will be the easy part, as he has endured so much pain prior. At least this is a healing pain. Thank God they were able to repair and get the infection.

The insulin levels will come down and level off. Infection will play havic for awhile. I have been insulin diabetic for 6 years now, diabetic for 10. It's an adjustment, but so treatable. And yes it will be a new lifestyle for you both. I will be praying about that also.

Country hugs sweetie...Sherry

I'm glad that surgery went well and that he has a goal...that should make the physical therapy easier for him (at least in his head). This sounds really painful and I'm sure there will be some tough days ahead. Prayers for you both. Don't forget to take some time to take care of you. My husband had major surgery 6 years ago and was home from work 6 weeks. It is hard on the "nurse" too.

Thanks for the update Sue. I hope his recovery is speedy. I would hate for a man who WILL actually dance to have to miss dancing at the wedding.
Now Ethel, make sure you take of yourself too. Eat right and get rest.

Sue,
Of course I will keep you both and your family in my prayers. Diabetes is such an awful disease but hopefully it was disgnosed early enough and Mr. S will continue to heal.

You be sure and take care of yourself as well, you're probably still healing from the fall you took! Caregivers never remember to take care of themselves.

Take care of each other!
