Four Frosty Snowmen Warm Up a Table

My kitchen table and hutch are now decorated with a snowman theme for the winter season. Everything is now bright and colorful and it makes me smile  every day to see the table so festively festooned. We really are using the dishes for our evening meals. After we’re done eating, I just wash and dry everything and then put it all back on the table. It keeps me on my toes!

While the dinner plates and cups and saucers are primarily dressed in green plaid, the salad plates feature four different snowman designs in this set of “Frosty Folks” dinnerware by Sakura. Although I didn’t show the bowls in this tablescape, I have twelve complete place settings.

I love the composition of design in the cup and saucer.

All of these snowmen look as if they are having loads of fun this winter!

I found these old napkin rings for a quarter apiece at an estate sale this summer. While I like the Christmas tree, Santa looks a little strange to me, since I am so used to seeing a portly old elf, instead of this skinny fellow! Maybe this was a popular look for the time?

glass

A snowflake design on the water glasses completes the snow theme.

Candlelight adds a warm glow to the table and makes even soup and sandwiches seem more elegant.

This is a view of the table showing the hutch. I inserted some berries into the twig tree to add color.

hutch

The top shelf of the hutch holds four each of the dinner plates, salad plates, and coffee mugs. The mugs looked kind of bare, so I topped them off with some apples.

smen

A few random snowmen accent the dinnerware.

This runner is so old…. I made it the first year that Mr. Sullivan and I were married. It reverses to a candy cane print. I filled the apothecary jars with yummy sweets. I’m not a big fan of peppermints, so these candies are fruit flavored.

See the scarves on all three of these stuffed fabric snowmen? I bet those guys are toasty and warm up there on the shelves.

Thanks for stopping by today. I know it will be a busy week for most everyone and I hope you are having a very happy holiday season!! We got a light dusting of snow on Friday night and this is what I woke up to. There is something so serene to me about trees and bushes lightly covered with glistening snow.

I like to keep it set too. People often ask me if I'm expecting someone for dinner. Lol.
Snowmen are so cute. My friend collects them. I painted her a firescreen full of them. They have such personalities don't they.

Your table looks so festive and pretty, Sue. I would love to keep mine set everyday, but I use it for so many things, including blogging on my laptop!!

Love the candy in the apathacary jars. Who would think to decorate with candy (other than the traditional candy canes on trees?) I am seeing candy everywhere :-)

Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas!!!

I've missed regular visits to your lovely blog.
I've missed Ooh'ing and Aah'ing over your delightful vignettes.
I've got pretty Fiestaware and I could set a gorgeous table every day. Thing is; I'm too lazy for the washing and resetting. It goes in the dishwasher.
You. Amaze.
Merry Christmas!
(I hope you're feeling better every day.)

Your table is so festive and cheery, and those plates are so fun! I like that you're actually using them, instead of being just for show. Every meal must be pure joy!

Those snowman dishes are so sweet! I have some that are green and blue and I didn't even get them out this year! I'm wishing now that I did. Maybe I'll grab some tomorrow, at least to have dinner on a few times this season.

I like what you did with the greenery and beads on the light, so pretty!
Have a very happy holiday!

Your table is so pretty! I love those dishes! I really have a dish problem LOL! Some women need huge closets for all their shoes and clothes - me it's china!

Love the snowflake glasses and snowmen. Yes, I'm used to a more roly poly santa too!

I'm taking the rest of the week off so I'll wish you a Merry Christmas now. I hope it's fabulous!

Hi Sue!

I love your snowman dishes and your snow photos are so beautiful!

Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2010!

PS Making mosaics is not hard on the Google Picasa program -- that is what I use. All you do is highlight the photos you want to use and then click on the mosaic wigget in the top tool bar of the photo folder and they do the work. They have a few different templates to use and you cna experiment with which one you like.
