I am showing the sofa wall in my great room. Since I am originally from New Mexico, I have a penchant for southwest items. Many of these items were acquired while I was still living there.
This ladder is made out of aspen wood from a forest in the mountains near Las Vegas, New Mexico.
This three dimensional piece of art is embellished with leather thongs and beads.
The sun plays a prominent role in American Indian beliefs. The lower picture is a shadow box featuring a sculptured sun face. In the small contemporary piece above it, the artist used corrugated cardboard and a small piece of copper. I am interpreting it to represent the moon.
These two pictures are lithographs of Indian pottery.
As you can see, not everything in southwest themed art is bright and colorful. The colors used in my wall art are all subtle earth tones.
