Beautiful California

Mr. Sullivan and I spent 10 days in California and actually had time to see some sights. We spent the first 4 days packing and moving our son from his rented house in Mariposa, outside of Yosemite. That was so much work! Believe me when I say that Dan was not the tidiest of housekeepers! We cleaned it top to bottom, so that he would be insured of getting back his deposit. After packing up 2 loads in a U-Haul and carting them off to a storage unit, we were finally done and ready to see the sights. We drove about three hours south to Monterey and visited Fisherman's Wharf. The bay area is so gorgeous, with its rocky shores and beautiful, clear waters.

Fisherman's Wharf where you can take a boat out to go fishing or whale watching.

The boats with their masts were lined up all through the harbor.

The coast is rocky and muddled with seaweed.

Monterey Canning Company right in the heart of Cannery Row.

The flowers planted along the walkways of Cannery Row were in full bloom and smelled so sweet.

The coast along 17 Mile Drive.

Mr. Sullivan checking out the scenery.

This little guy greeted us while driving a bit more inland on 17 Mile Drive.

Most of our time was spent in the Monterey area, and I will post more pictures of our trip again later. I was so awed by the scenery of the coast and the cleanliness of the area. While driving home from the Columbus airport back to Dayton, all we saw was litter along the highway. The scenery looked so tired and old. Of course, it didn't help that the skies were gray and there was no green vegetation anywhere. Spring will come eventually and life will begin anew. I want my outlook on life to do the same. Until later, friends. ~ Sue

Your pictures of the coast were beautiful! I have not made it to see California yet, but one of these days we will make it out there. I know how you feel about coming back home and everything looking blah, and tired and trashy and I think the weather doesn't help. But today was us hope, doesn't it? Thanks for sharing!

Hi Sue, Your Ca. pictures are so pretty. I am glad you had a good time and happy you are back home safe and sound. Does Ohio implement a keep Ohio beautiful program? Virginia has one and different people pick a part of a road to pick up the litter and keep it clean. We have road side signs that has the name of the family that takes care of the road. And we have hefty littering fines too but people still throw stuff out the windows. Hope you are getting some rest this weekend and that you will have pretty Spring time weather this week.
